On January 10, family farmers will travel to Washington DC to participate in the appeal of Organic Seed Growers and Trade Asscociation (OSGATA) vs Monsanto et al, a court case filed to protect farmers from genetic trespass by Monsanto’s GMO seed, which can contaminate organic and non-GMO farmers' crops and opens them up to abusive lawsuits. The reason this issue is so important to not only beekeepers but everyone is that it concerns all of the food that we consume. If the agrochemical giants like Monsanto are successful they will own the new plant life forms that they have created and completely monopolize their chemical dependant production of our food. Monsanto's legacy of human suffering has been well documented as has been their corrupt affiliation with the American and E.U. political system (Monsanto the evil Empire). The majority of gmo seeds they produce contain systemic neonicotinoid pesticides (Insecticides and Bees) which have been proven lethal to bees and have been devastating to commercial beekeepers in the U.S., Canada and Europe (Neonicotinoids kill bees in Ontario). We need to support the family farmers not the agrochemical corporations.
